The ONYX Series DS3 Routing Switcher supports DS3 signals with data rate of 44.736Mbps. Switching sizes range from 8×8 to 128×128. Three frame versions are available: 2RU, 4RU and 8RU. The switcher features automatic cable equalization up to1000ft (about 300m) with 75ohm impedance. Both inputs and outputs use transformer coupling. The switcher uses I/O modules that support By-Pass protection. By-Pass can be assigned for any channel through the local front panel, remote control panel or the supporting control applications, where the program input goes directly to the program output instead of passing through the switcher. Therefore the program output can be maintained even in the event of power failure. Such I/O modules can also report corresponding signal status to Crosspoint Switch Module for monitoring purposes. Multiple control interfaces include RS-232/422, TCP/IP, CAN and C-BUS. It supports redundant control and power supply for enhanced stability and reliability. This switcher is ideally suited for use in head-end applications of cable television systems.
