The UWI is a peripheral device that provides WAVES transceiver units (TRX) with one or more contact closure (CC) outputs. The contact closure outputs are used to interface with other systems and are independently controllable by WAVES.
The UWI is typically co-located with a WAVES TRX and UPS-901 (optional). The UWI receives power, line-level audio, and responds to serial commands from the host TRX through its RS-232 port. The UWI directly passes input audio through to the output with no gain or attenuation. The UWI simplifies system wiring by bundling line-level audio from the TRX and the Push-To-Talk (PTT) contact closure in a single interface cable. The UWI-1301VXR is required for interfacing with FACPs and other regulated systems.
