Matrox video wall technology and VView software provide VolkerWessels Telecom with flexible Network Operations Center video wall
Background
As a major European construction services company, Netherlands-based VolkerWessels is responsible for thousands of network-related elements. The VolkerWessels Telecom division designs, builds, and maintains fixed and wireless telecommunication networks, and provides connectivity for services ranging from sustainable energy to smart waste bins. In order to drive forward-looking connectivity for its clients, VolkerWessels Telecom relies on intuitive Matrox video wall technology and VView software in its Network Operations Center (NOC).
Challenge
Before acquiring its Matrox-powered video wall, staff at VolkerWessels Telecom’s NOC had been using several different screens of varying sizes connected to several different PCs. What the NOC staff needed was a single video wall that would allow for optimized resource sharing and centralized control. After consulting with AV distributor Sahara Benelux and AV systems integrator Ricoh, VolkerWessels Telecom decided that Matrox QuadHead2Go multi-monitor controllers and Matrox-validated Advantech AVS-540 controlled by VView’s Classic video wall software would be the ideal solution for creating a dynamic, easy-to-use video wall system for NOC staff.
Solution
VolkerWessels Telecom NOC staff are now using a 6x2 curved video wall of 47-inch screens installed in front of five operator desks. The video wall is driven by a combination of three Matrox QuadHead2Go appliances, as well as one Advantech AVS-540 chassis that is powered by Matrox Mura IPX capture & IP decode and D-Series graphics cards. Displayed with flawless image quality, video wall content is sourced from direct video uploads from staff desktops, HTML5, third party applications, and physical inputs such network computers and dashboards. A centralized deployment of VView’s Classic software on Windows PCs allows users to securely access and manage video wall content directly from a browser. Further, staff can also access the same video wall management software via the VView app installed on iPads.
Results
Thanks to VolkerWessels Telecom’s Matrox-powered video wall and VView Classic software-based video wall management system, DOC staff are now able to access and control content with greater ease and flexibility than ever before. “The Matrox video wall and VView Classic software solution has put control back into the hands of DOC specialists,” said Arjan Dokter, NOC Manager at VolkerWessels Telecom. “This reliable and flexible video wall solution has enabled us to continue to deliver on our 24/7 availability promise to our clients, all while allowing us to have a completely frictionless content management experience.”
